Job Description

General Production Worker

Job Description

This role focuses on operating a dedicated production cell to manufacture rubber components for the automotive industry. Cell Operators guide products through a consistent production cycle, working with molding tools, automated machinery, and inspection processes to ensure high-quality parts are produced efficiently and safely. The work is straightforward and repetitive, requires sustained focus and attention to detail, and involves managing multiple tools or batches at different stages of production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a designated production cell to take rubber automotive components through the full molding and production cycle.
  • Prepare molding tools by placing metal rings into 24–48 slots on a flat metal tool with handles, ensuring each slot is correctly filled.
  • Load prepared molding tools into the machine by flipping the tool into position and start the molding process according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a steady workflow by managing 2–3 tools or batches at a time, including one tool being filled, one in the machine, and one being inspected.
  • Remove molding tools from the machine once the cycle is complete and use an air brush to cool the molded rubber products safely and efficiently.
  • Flip cooled molding tools to release finished rubber parts onto the work table or workstation for further processing.
  • Visually inspect finished products, such as spark plug caps, steering column seals, and filter seals, for defects including air bubbles, rips, or other imperfections, using magnification tools when required.
  • Sort acceptable products into bins, count and weigh them to confirm production quantities (for example, verifying batches of 1,000 parts), and prepare them for further handling or packaging.
  • Follow documented quality standards using the quality binder in each cell to identify specific defects and ensure all products meet required specifications.
  • Complete accurate paper shift logs at the workstation, recording which operator ran the part, basic maintenance or troubleshooting performed, scrap generated, progress toward production goals, machine temperature readings, and quality/specification data.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and Kevlar sleeves, and safe handling of tools and materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, molds, and materials are handled and stored correctly.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and leads regarding production status, quality issues, equipment concerns, or any deviations from standard processes.
  • Support continuous improvement by following production and quality standards and being open to feedback and training.
  • Comply with all facility policies, including remaining on-site during paid breaks and following non-smoking rules during work hours.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in production operator roles or general production work is beneficial.
  • History in inspection, packaging, painting, labeling, industrial assembly, construction, material handling, inventory, retail, food packaging, food production, order picking, foodservice, or other manufacturing or warehouse environments is helpful.
  • Comfort working in industrial manufacturing settings and around automated machinery.
  • Ability to follow documented processes and use reference materials, such as quality binders, to guide inspection and production decisions.
  • Interest in learning additional responsibilities that can lead to advancement into roles such as mold cleaning, case treating, shipping, cell support, or maintenance apprenticeship.

Why Work Here?

Employees benefit from a climate-controlled facility, paid breaks, and a supportive environment that values safety, consistency, and growth. Full-time benefits begin on day one of employment, and team members enjoy 11 paid holidays, the ability to accrue up to two weeks of paid time off, and the option to purchase additional PTO throughout the year. The organization offers structured wage increases, including a raise at six months, and clear advancement paths into higher-paying roles such as mold cleaning, case treating, cell support, shipping, and maintenance apprenticeship. Work Environment

The work takes place in a climate-controlled industrial manufacturing facility focused on producing rubber components for the automotive industry. Cell Operators work at individual production cells equipped with molding machines, metal tools with multiple slots, air brushes for cooling, inspection tables, and quality documentation binders. Depending on assignment, operators work one of several fixed shifts: first shift Monday–Friday, second shift Monday–Friday (typically 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.), or third shift Sunday–Thursday (typically 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.). Once placed on a shift, hours remain consistent. Work may be organized in four-hour increments and can include weekend work as needed, with schedules communicated in advance. All operators receive a 20-minute paid break during an 8-hour shift, and an additional 20-minute paid break when working a 12-hour shift. Employees stay on-site for the duration of their shift, including breaks, and do not leave the facility or sit in their vehicles during paid break time. The facility has a strict non-smoking policy; smoking, tobacco use, and vaping are not permitted on the property during work hours. Personal protective equipment provided includes gloves, safety glasses, and Kevlar sleeves. Operators may wear shorts and regular shoes, and no hearing protection is required. Rings and jewelry are not allowed, and long hair must be tied back to maintain safety around machinery.
